I don't dispute this, but it presents an excuse to recount a moderately interesting story. By chance, I was in Los Angeles about a month before the film was released in the USA. I walked from East Hollywood to LACMA, encountering nothing but well appointed suburban housing, the Museum of Death (no joke) and a couple of cupcake shops. On reaching Beverley Hills Blvd, I was amazed to find a cinema showing an intriguing mix of old Frank Sinatra vehicles, B-movies and Film Noirs and stopped to look at the programme. The first thing I noticed were two enormous maps of LA pinned up behind the artfully restored popcorn counter; the second was Tarantino himself strolling across the foyer, giving me the fanboy-placating thumbs-up. As it turns out, he both owns the place (which is well worth a visit) and keeps offices there. On another note, the film itself may have been a bit crap, but I loved the pastiche pre-publicity QT had made for it.
