Les Vampires, 1: 'La Tête coupée'
Interiors = Philippe Guérande's home in Paris; the magistrate's office at 'Saint-Clément-sur-Cher'; various parts of Dr Nox's château:
Exteriors = the château and the mairie:
1/ Supposed to be Dr Nox's château at Saint-Clément-sur-Cher, a fictional town, this is La Vaucressonnière at Vaucresson, Hauts de Seine. Feuillade returned here in 1919 for Barrabas (below right).
2/ supposed to be the mairie at Saint-Clément-sur-Cher, actually the mairie at Reuil-Malmaison, Hauts de Seine:
3/ supposed to be the roof and vicinity of the mairie at Saint Clément sur Cher, probably a building in the Cité Elgé:
In 1948, at Henri Langlois's instigation, Musidora and Jean Aymé watched fragments of Les Vampires to try and identify cast members. They commented on the images above, confirming that this is the vicinity of the studio and marvelling at the resourcefulness that could make such good use of a plain wall:
